Asteron Life today announced that both new and existing customers with disability insurance will now have access to the Best Doctors service at no additional cost.
The Best Doctors package also includes the new Mental Health Navigator service, which provides direct access to a multidisciplinary team of mental health experts, including psychologists and psychiatrists.
The Mental Health Navigator service can assist customers 18 and over, whether they have not reached out for help before, or have already received care for their condition. The service also provides general advice on mental health conditions and guidance on how to navigate the mental health system.
Since 2013, Asteron Life has offered some customers a range of Best Doctors benefits including the Ask an Expert and Expert Medical Opinion second opinion offering. The updated service also includes online GP Consults which enables customers to get quick access to New Zealand registered GPs within 24 hours.
“Best Doctors connects our customers with leading medical specialists, and enables them to make medical decisions with confidence,” says Graham Hill, Executive Manager Life Distribution at Asteron Life. “Like insurance, the service is really about being there for people when it matters.”
Customers with eligible products will be able to use the Best Doctors package for themselves and their immediate family including children, spouses or civil partners, parents and parents-in-law.
Hill says that in the current Covid-19 environment, mental health support and the ability to get expert medical advice from your own home is particularly relevant.
“We’ve put together an expanded Best Doctors service for advisers to offer their customers alongside our disability products, which will enable customers to access medical advice over the phone or via video call and provide access even during periods of restricted movement if necessary – and at no added cost.”
Mike Morris, Country Manager, Best Doctors said “This year has shown us that virtual care is incredibly important and effective. There has never been a better time to offer people access to virtual care and we’re delighted to be bringing new services to Asteron Life customers.”
Best Doctors will be available to Asteron Life customers with disability insurances that provide income support while they are unable to work due to sickness or injury.
Hill says that Asteron Life is offering advisers training webinars so that they can learn more about the service and provide information to their customers about it.
“I encourage all the advisers who work with us to register now for one of our training sessions or contact your BDM if you have any questions about how Best Doctors can benefit your clients.”
