Asteron Life offers customers a new layer of connected medical support

30 March 2023

Asteron Life has today announced an enhanced virtual medical and wellbeing service, Asteron Life Connected Care offering customers free access to medical advice from medical specialists, dieticians, and fitness experts.

The new Asteron Life Connected Care package expands on Asteron Life's previous expert virtual medical care benefit, Best Doctors, and offers access to dieticians, fitness professionals, world-class medical specialists, online GP consults, support for mental health conditions, and advice on navigating the New Zealand mental health system.

The additional offering is available free of charge to all new and existing Asteron Life customers with eligible Disability Insurance, Trauma Cover and Cancer Cove, as well as their partner, children, parents, and parents-in-law. The service is provided in partnership with Teladoc Health, a telemedicine and virtual healthcare company.

Grant Willis, Executive General Manager of Asteron Life says Asteron Life Connected Care adds value to Asteron’s insurance offerings by supporting customers to understand and prioritise their health and wellbeing.

He says the benefits are designed to help Asteron customers live life to the fullest, with a team of medical specialists, dieticians, and fitness experts available to create personalised plans to achieve health, fitness, and nutrition goals. Customers with eligible products will be able to use the Asteron Life Connected Care package for themselves and their immediate family including children, spouses or civil partners, parents, and parents-in-law.

“We are looking to go beyond ‘claim only benefits and price’ to deliver genuine value for our customers. Asteron Life Connected Care helps our customers make medical decisions with confidence when they are going through a tough time.”

Willis says the move is an exciting evolution for Asteron Life’s partnership with Teladoc Health.

“When it comes to the mental and physical health of our customers and their whānau, supporting them to get the very best advice is paramount. With Asteron Life Connected Care, that’s exactly what you get – access to leading medical and wellness experts who can answer your questions, give you a second opinion, or provide advice on the appropriate treatment pathway,” says Willis.

“Covid, and more recently, extreme weather events, have put a spotlight on the importance and value of virtual medical care and ensuring we are supporting our mental health, and we’re delighted to be able to extend a superior benefit to customers during challenging times. Like insurance, the service is about being there for people when it really matters to them.”

The service is also available to eligible  insurance advisers. To qualify for the service, advisers only need in-force business with Asteron Life. Once qualified, advisers can sign up through the online portal.

“I encourage all the advisers who work with us to register for the service themselves and contact your BDM if you have any questions about how Asteron Life Connected Care can benefit you and your clients.”
