Asteron Life continues winning streak with Life Insurance Company of the Year award win

At last night’s annual ANZIIF Insurance Industry Awards held in Tāmaki Makaurau, Asteron Life was once again awarded the Life Insurance Company of the Year for the second year running. The company has won the title five times for its demonstrated high level of care for its customers, community and people.

Accepting the award on behalf of Asteron Life was Claire Sutton Executive Manager - Life Portfolio & New Business, who says “Winning the award was absolutely thrilling and fantastic recognition of our team who have worked incredibly hard to develop and implement initiatives in response to our customers’ needs. Our team are focussed on exceeding expectations every day to make the customer experience the best it can be.”

Grant Willis, Executive General Manager for Asteron Life says “We’ve introduced greater listening measures so our customers have a voice, which enables us to focus our attention on the issues that will have the greatest impact. Keeping insurance accessible and affordable is a priority, especially in these times of economic strain for many, so it’s important that our customers understand and appreciate the value of personal insurance to protect their future security. We’re honoured to receive this accolade and acknowledgment from the industry.”

Representing Asteron Life, Claire Sutton, Executive Manager - Life Portfolio & New Business holds the winner's trophy alongside Fraser Kerr, Manager - Life Pricing at the ANZIIF awards.

“Our team’s focus to always put the customer first includes making sure the application process is as simple as possible and easy to understand. Using behavioural science and data driven insights, our underwriting team created clear specific questions to make the process not only simple, but less intrusive, wherever possible,” Willis adds.

Asteron Life’s retention rates were noted by the award judging panel as ‘significantly higher than industry standards’ as evidence of the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction.

Asteron Life were also commended for their outstanding approach to their team’s wellbeing and professional development. 

"This award win is a great symbol of the success of our fantastic team at Asteron Life, and their dedication to ensuring New Zealanders continue to have access to our services to protect what matters most, and so they can enjoy life knowing their financial security is in order,” says Willis.

As well as applauding his Asteron Life team for the award win, Willis extends his appreciation to the company’s network of partners including independent financial advisers who connect customers with the appropriate level and type of insurance cover from the suite of products Asteron Life offers. Willis also extends his thanks to the New Zealand Automobile Association who distribute the insurers' products via their direct channel (AA Life).

Asteron Life is part of Suncorp New Zealand, its Vero brand was also a finalist for General Insurance Company of the Year and its joint venture business (with the NZ Automobile Association) AA Insurance won Claims Team of the Year for the second year running.
